Web Site in the Spotlight: Ace of Hearts Jewellery
In case you hadn’t heard, Google has created their own browser called Chrome, in an attempt to compete with Microsoft’s Internet Explorer (of which Beta 2 of version 8 was also released last week). So yes lots of new browser versions recently released of soon to be released. We download them all and test your site to make sure it looks great in the new browsers, and if something breaks, we fix it.
Here are some quick tips on how to make life easier for people visiting your web site. This will help keep them on the page and within your web site longer and more likely to take the action you want them to take such sign up for your newsletter or purchase from your online store.
Before we get to the top 11 tips, the key is that they all boil down to ...
"Use your common sense and keep it simple"
Put yourself in their shoes, they want to easily find what they are looking for. If they are new to your site it is even more important to follow these tips if you want your business to be successful online.

- Make sure images are not over powering and take away all the focus.
- Ensure your headlines are enticing, interesting, and get people to read more of the page.
- Make the text colour and size easy to read, usually this means black text on a white background.

When creating a new site, it can often take Google and the other search engines sometime before they index your site.
So what do you do if your site needs to be in the search engines yesterday because TVNZ One News are doing a story that includes your web site (or some other reason that makes it super urgent)?
Well this is exactly the dilemma we faced the other week. With some special techniques we had the site showing up in Google within 10 minutes of starting our promo efforts. And the site was fully indexed by Google and Yahoo within 24 hours.
If you have parts of your site that aren’t in the search engine indexes or have a special page you want indexed fast, then let us know, we’ll make it happen for you too.

If you haven’t already cheched out the amazing Jewellery that Annette creates, visit her site and get a glimpse of her amazing creations. Unlike the machine created jewellery of the big jewellery stores, Annette hand makes jewellery specifically for each customer.
We worked with Annette to create the aceofhearts.co.nz web site to show prospective customers a selection of the jewellery she hand makes.
A couple of cool modules we added to the site are the gallery module, and the social bookmarking module.
On the Gallery page you’ll see thumbnail images of the jewellery, clicking on one of these opens a larger view of the image hovering above the page. You can use the Arrow keys on your keyboard to cycle through the images, or click on the buttons on the image.
The social bookmarking module is included on all pages, so people visiting the site can let others know about the site by clicking on the social bookmark site links, or using the email to a friend feature.

In the next edition ...
In the next edition we showcase a new site that we are nearing completion on right now, it includes the Announcement module (very cool for scheduling when you want content to show up), Gallery (like on Annette’s site, plus members only area, stay tuned.
